What is the most effective way to integrate healthy living and S.E.A.L across the curriculum? Just sit back and relax!

PLAY: Be active, eat healthily, learn and create.
PAUSE: Think how you, others and the planet relate.
UNWIND: Relax, sleep well and regenerate.
Do these 3 each day and life will be great!

Play Pause Unwind is the simple 3-a-day programme to a happy, healthy and wise lifestyle supported by an innovative range of teaching resources including a series of life-enhancing, guided visualisations, covering the S.E.A.L. themes for your entire year. Each relatable scenario can be listened to as a stimulus for discussion to help develop children’s social and emotional literacy or simply as an aid to relaxation after lunch or at the end of a busy day. Taking as little as two minutes, the audio tracks are also ideal for use as a cool down at the end of a P.E. lesson or as a starting point for lessons across the curriculum.

Developed with schools and feedback from pupils, teachers and The Healthy Schools Partnership, Play Pause Unwind’s unique combination of calming speech, dynamic music and immersive sound effects makes it accessible to children, teenagers, adults and all ability levels. The teaching notes, by Inclusion Manager and Deputy Headmistress, Lorraine Ramet (BSc [Hons], PGCE, NPQH), give 100s of imaginative ideas for using this groundbreaking resource as a stimulus in all subject areas and our, “Relax & Reward”, bookmarks, stickers and badges ensure that learning is easy, fun and highly rewarding.

I have used this CD with a difficult class who found it hard to settle especially after lunch. The CD allowed the children to calm down and forget problems encountered at playtimes ready for an afternoon of learning. The children really enjoyed the CD and were able to produce some great pictures of what they imagined.
The CD was also useful for giving children experiences and images they may not have experienced for themselves.

A Headteacher I was talking to recently used the welcome track from Play Pause Unwind 1 to help a parent who experienced a panic attack at school.
