How to use Play Pause Unwind in Caring

Many carers do a fabulous, dedicated and necessary job. Unfortunately, they can be undervalued or taken for granted and respite is difficult to organise. With bothtime and finances at a premium, a lot of responsibilities to juggle, and resources directed towards the needs of the patient it isn’t surprising that Carers get very tired and sometimes run down. Many cope with health problems of their own, as well as their care task.
Play Pause Unwind is designed to be inclusive for all ages and can allow precious moments of calm and relaxation for carers and their charges to share together either at home or in groups.
The imaginative visualisations are wonderful doorways to favourite places and happy experiences. They stimulate memory and can help to encourage patients out of isolation as they enjoy the relaxing experience they share with others. How does it work? Visualisation can have powerful effects on the way the body and mind function. Try this one- imagine you are holding a plump orange, cut it open and smell the sharp, sweet tang, now imagine biting into the flesh and the taste of the juice in your mouth – are you salivating?

Play Pause Unwind can also be used as a starting point for creative activities such as drawing, modelling, cookery, flower arranging, singing or dancing. It is not even essential for patients to fully understand the stories, the soothing voice over and music, with physiological and environmental sounds are effective on their own.

PPU tracks vary in length. You can even snatch a moment of effective relaxation in two minutes! Go ahead, recharge your batteries and cope with stressful situations more easily by simply relaxing.
