How to use Play Pause Unwind in Acupuncture

Acupuncture is about restoring balance to facilitate health and wellbeing, it is holistic and includes elements of the mind, body and soul.
Many of our patients present with stress related components to their problem and as part of effective care will need help to develop stress management strategies.
During treatment when needles are in place can be an excellent time to introduce relaxation training.
Some patients are apprehensive about needling and Play Pause Unwind is ideal for use prior to treatment in the waiting area or at home

Play Pause Unwind is an effective resource that allows integration of relaxation alongside Acupuncture to benefit patients with a stress related component to their problem. It also offers an easy to use self management tool for patients. Our interactive website provides support and information for professional and home users. Clinical notes are available and training workshops are available for patients and clinicians.
The CD’s are carefully designed to offer tracks of differing lengths suitable for patients of all abilities and to allow for practical treatment time restraints. Longer sessions are achieved by combining the Welcome track with a further visualisation or by moving through several successive tracks. The very short tracks are great pick me ups for patients and Clinicians to use during the day or to use alongside shorter Dry Needling Treatments.
On the technical side…The tracks include several styles of relaxation – Visualisation Imagery, Progressive Muscular Relaxation, and Deep Breathing. The soundtracks also use important techniques to facilitate relaxation music ambient and physiological sounds, rhythm, and frequency. Some tracks have voice over to guide the session, others are sound only. Although each voice over track can be simply enjoyed as an imaginative experience, certain tracks encourage important social and emotional skills such as self esteem, motivation, goal setting and managing feelings or relationships which may help patients with specific issues. Details of content and scripts can be found in the clinician notes. More in depth information on relaxation techniques is on the website
